The kids start each morning working in their Daily Folders. Included in these folders are reviews of grammar, comprehension, spelling, Bible, math, vocabulary etc. They don’t do every folder every day. I vary them depending on what we are studying at that time of year. Comprehension and math, on the other hand, are reviewed daily. Their folder work usually takes between 20 and 45 minutes to complete. When they are done they take a break. I love this folder work because they motivate the kids get to the school table on time and to begin working right away, so they will be rewarded with a longer break when finished. Below are some of my favorite activities to include in our Daily Folders.
COMPREHENSION
I particularly like this set of comprehension activities. Each week is a different story with a set of questions for each day. I like this because it's not overwhelming and it gives the time for a greater understanding of the passage. Some stories are fiction, some are non-fiction. Questions focus on things like vocabulary, inferences, point of view and author's purpose. I usually print 4 weeks, per grade at a time. The kids keep the current one in the pocket of their folder, and on Thursdays, hole punch and file in the binder. ** I have tried different comprehension activities and the kids always ask to come back to these! MATH
I have traded out daily practice sheets many times for math. Mainly because it is fun to try new things. Some things that I LOVE are Project Based Learning Activities. The kids are responsible for one task a day. Typically they do not require help with these, as they are either review or correlate with what we are learning at the time...but the cool thing is they help each other if they get stuck. Sometimes Will and Evie (4th and 5th) have the same project. Here are some examples:

BIBLE, SPELLING, VOCABULARY, GRAMMAR
Bible is typically a journal. I have found some good ones on Christian Book.com. I am always on the hunt for meaningful lessons to work in with Bible. I also don't ALWAYS do Bible. Some weeks we work on Emotional and Social Development. I really like Big Life Journal.
Spelling is choice board, where they can choose the activity to complete for spelling words review. Here is a link to a cool packet with a lot of options: LINK
Vocabulary is typically a word of the day. We really like the Wordly Wise workbooks. I print sheets like THIS and John (7th grade) will work in the book. I really like this curriculum because they give weekly tests, that are similar to the questions on Standardized Tests, given at the end of the year.
Grammar correlates to what we are learning or review. My kids LOVE this set of worksheets to review the parts of speech! LINK I also LOVE ixl.com. It is an online program that focuses on common core requirements per grade level. It also helps to keep me informed of specific lessons that I need to cover throughout the year.

The best thing about these daily folders is that I know they are working, every day, on school work. Even if we have an "off" day, I know that they got the "good stuff" in. I hope this helps anyone who is looking to enhance or start their homeschool! It's pretty easy and has a big impact.
